Welcome!

Life at Procurated: Why George, Genna, and Paul Decided to Join the Team

Here at Procurated, we’re immensely proud of our small and mighty team. While we are all working towards the same goal – to help government, education, and healthcare buyers find businesses who have done outstanding work for public organizations like theirs – it’s our diverse backgrounds and skill sets that make the team so successful (and a whole lot of fun).

But don’t just take our word for it. We sat down with a few members of our team to uncover what drew them to Procurated, and why they’ve stuck around. Watch the full video on our LinkedIn page, and read on to hear from George, Genna, and Paul:

“There was already a product, and they didn’t even have an engineering team yet.”

George Puthukkeril, Product Designer, joined the team just seven months after the startup, well, started up. When the time came in the interview process to see a demo, he was “amazed” at what he saw.

“It was already built out, it was already a viable product,” he said. “And I was really amazed by that. At the time, Procurated didn’t even have a dedicated engineering team or product designer.”

To George, this fact showed that the Procurated team was resourceful and determined to get the job done. A team and culture he could get behind.

“Everyone is at the table, and everyone has a voice.”

Genna Gold, Director of Partner Engagement & Business Development, has a wealth of experience working with two-sided platforms like Yelp and TripAdvisor. But she was drawn to the opportunity to make a large impact at a smaller company.

“The small environment really fosters communication,” she said. “The leadership team has a daily standup, and the entire company meets once per week to review our goals and progress. For the big decisions, everyone has a voice.”

This open communication has enabled Genna, who joined the team in June 2020, to quickly find success and make progress on Procurated’s engagement and business development strategy.

“I learned technology so I could help solve important problems.”

When Paul Blackwell graduated college, the history major took on a market research role at a New York City-based technology platform. It was here that he fell in love with technology, and the ability it has to solve some of the world’s biggest problems. He signed up for an intensive software development program the following year, and the rest is history.

After several years working in DC-based startups, Paul joined the Procurated engineering team in February of 2020.

“What drew me to Procurated was the chance to help build a platform to increase equality across government procurement and make people’s jobs easier,” said Paul. “The government side of things is new to me, but the challenge is interesting, and the people are great.”
